Upcoming EventsParticipants at a recent Doing Things Right Event learn more about manure management plans.

Doing things right is the right thing to do. This includes caring for the well-being of livestock, being a good neighbor, safeguarding air, soil and water quality and farming in an ethical and sustainable way. The Coalition to Support Iowa’s Farmers is dedicated to helping farmers do things right when it comes to taking care of their livestock, following all rules and regulations, protecting air and water quality and being good neighbors.

That’s why CSIF sponsors special "Doing Things Right" events throughout the year like our Doing Things Right Field Days to showcase the importance of planning and implementing vegetative environmental buffers around livestock buildings. We also host the Doing Things Right Farming for the Future conference to provide timely insight into best-management practices and updates on state and federal regulations that impact livestock and poultry farmers.

To further demonstrate the way farmers do things right, if you’re planning to construct a new livestock farm or grow an existing one, consider hosting an open house and ribbon cutting once your project is completed (and, in the case of hogs or poultry, is populated). It’s a timely opportunity to share your story with those living in your community and provide people a chance to get an up-close and personal look at how livestock are raised.
